Uncle Toni 2

Toni Nadal: The future of tennis I’ll start with a quote from Mario Vargas Llosa’s essay “The civilization of the spectacle”: "Today, sport has acquired an importance that in the past it possessed only in Ancient Greece. For Plato, Socrates, Aristotle and other frequenters of the Academy, the cultivation of the body was simultaneous and complementary to the cultivation of the spirit. It was believed that both are mutually enriched. The difference with our time is that now, generally, the practice of sports is made at the expense of, and instead of, intellectual work ". In the past, when we watched players like Ilie Nastase, Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe and Björn Borg we didn’t just appreciate their different styles, but we marveled at the way they could improvise and produce strategies to defeat each one of their opponents. They prepared each and every point and resolved them in their own way. We admired their talent as tennis players, but we loved their intelligent approac

Toni Nadal: "I was worried that fame and money would affect Rafael´s career" via http://www.elmundo.es/vida-sana/bienestar/2016/03/21/56ebf6c946163f4b448b458c.html   "When we started to travel, Rafael was so little and my responsibility went b)eyond tennis but as he grew older, our familiar relationship took second place.   "During a tournament, in San Juan de Luz (France), Rafael was 16 and he went to have dinner with my friend. The following day he said to me that they ate mariscada (shellfish stew) and I replied that he was not old enough to have it and that the correct thing was to eat an hamburger. He had already signed important enough contracts with sports brands and he could afford it. I was worried that fame and money would affect his career and because of this I wanted him to behave like a normal boy."   Toni has three sons none of whom are not jealous of their cousin: "My sons are grateful to their cousin. Thanks to him, they have h

Aida ada sorang kawan baik lelaki. Kawan baik je tak lebih daripada tu. Dah berbelas tahun kami berkawan. Dulu dia duduk KL tapi sekarang dah pindah luar KL, Walaupun dah jauh tapi masih berhubung jugaklah. Jadi semalam Aida masa on the balik dari office Aida call dia. Sebabnya masa tu tengah jem. Boring kot. Sebab tu teringat nak Tanya khabar dia lah. Ringing tapi tak pick up. Jadi Aida letak je lah.   Selang berapa minit ada tet masuk dari dia. 'Please call back'.   Jadi Aida pun call lah balik.   Aida: Assalamualaikum!   Dia: W'salam. Sorry tak sempat pick up tadi. Tengah baring, sakit kepala.   Aida: Takpe.   Dia: Ada apa?   Aida: Apa yang ada apa?   Dia: Ada apa call?   Aida: Takde apa. (Dalam hati tertanya-tanya, nak call pun kena ada sebab ke? Terus mood nak bercakap ke laut)   Dan dia terus sembang walaupun tak dpat respon sangat daripada Aida.     Kalau korang kat tempat Aida, korang sentap tak dengar soalan macam tu?

Ulasan Buku : Anak-Anak Abah

Dah dekat seminggu Aida habis baca buku Anak-Anak Abah (AAA) ni. Bukan tak nak buat tapi tak tau nak mula macam mana.   Hajat hati kononnya nak buat ulasan lengkap. Yang terbaiklah konon. Tapi tak terbuat-buat. Walaupun Aida memang suka membaca tapi buat ulasan memang tak pernah. Kalau ulasan lisan tu biasalah. Cerita sana sini pasal buku yang dah dibaca. Kalau best Aida suruh diorang beli dan baca. Kalau tak best pada pandangan mata Aida, Aida bagi je pinjam buku Aida kat diorang tak payah diorang buang duit beli.   Meleret pulak intro. Makcik memang macam ni. Maaflah ya. :-)   Sebelum Aida cerita tentang AAA, Aida nak cerita sikit kenapa Aida beli buku AAA ni. Aida sebenarnya baru je mengenali tulisan Abg Nazali Noor @ Abg Naz ni. Ya memang buku beliau, Ulu Yam di Liverpool (UYDL) da
